Be naughty....... (only) occasionally.......

The general dictum is 'Be good, always; Never tell a lie; Have good manners; Be health-conscious....'. And the list goes on.... Yes, it is generally the right path for being a good human being. Though we (most of us) may very much like to follow the above principles in life, sometimes, it may be difficult to adhere to them, for various reasons. If we fail to fall in line with the above 'life lessons', is it a grave mistake...? Is it unpardonable...? Let us probe further....

There is a Tamil saying, when translated means, 'Even thievery should be learnt and forgotten'. So, it is obvious that knowing what 'thievery' is all about, is not a sin, after all. You should not practice it, but forget it. It will give 'in-depth' knowledge about 'why other people steal'. The detective knows all the ways of the thieves! The great Tamil 'poet-philosopher' Thiruvalluvar says in one of his 1330 verses, that 'even falsehood has the nature of truth, if it confers a benefit, that is free from fault'. So, there is nothing wrong in going astray from the rule 'never tell a lie'. But with a catch, of course!

In trying to be health-conscious, we follow certain regular practices like, 'do some physical exercise', 'eat sensibly', 'sleep properly' etc... It is good to follow the routine, day in and day out. But is it a grave mistake or a sin if you digress from the routine on a strange day? No, not at all. Skip your work-outs occasionally. It feels good....! After all, 'feeling good' is also very important.

Normally you would desist from eating burger, pizza and other fast food. But occasionally, you may indulge in the forbidden habit, may be to give company to friends or to liven up your boring military regime...! That is okay. After all, variety is the spice of life. To drive away 'boredom', it is essential to change track once-in-a-while. But never fall into the trap and make the exception a rule!

To be happy in life, we should avoid having expectations. Expectations do cause disappointment and make us sad. But we cannot be saints always and not expect anything for your actions. Of course, I do agree that GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF 'WHAT TO GIVE AND WHAT NOT TO GIVE' to us. But once in a while, expect something towards your deeds. Okay, you are disappointed, in not getting as per your expectation. Let it be. You will then know how to handle your disappointment. You would learn a few new tricks. You will become wiser. This is the essence of life.

Dr. Abdul Kalam said that it is okay to cut the class 'occasionally' and enjoy with friends. Because such happy occasions will linger in your memory and give you happiness later. Skipping one or two classes will not impact your studies...

Who does not like a child, which is naughty? You can see parents boasting to visitors that their baby is very naughty. So, become a child and be naughty occasionally....

(While typing this blog, my system behaved naughtily! I could not see what I was typing, but whatever typed could be seen in the 'preview' and I enjoyed the system's naughtiness...!)
