Most of the parents wants their wards to live their (parents) dreams. “I wanted to become an aeronautical engineer, but could not. So, come what may, I will make my son an aeronautical engineer”. “I aspired to become a heart surgeon, but fate had different ideas for me. Hence I will see to it that my daughter becomes a heart specialist”. All of us would have come across such people. First of all, we should realize that our children are brought into this world through us, by the will of God. It does not mean that we own them. The children have their own rights and aspirations. And they should be molded by their inherent talent and passion in that direction. Today, the world is wide open unlike a few decades earlier. We cannot even imagine the innumerable study courses available, each specializing in something, not even known to us earlier. நம்மில் பலருக்குப் பரிச்சயமான ‘கார்டூன்’ நண்பர்கள், ‘Tom & Jerry'. வயது வித்தியாசமில்லாமல் எல்லா வயதினருக்கும் பிடித்த ‘இருவர்’. ‘டாம்’ இல்லையேல், ‘ஜெர்ரி’ இல்லை; அது போல ‘ஜெர்ரி’ இல்லையேல் ‘டாம்’ இல்லை. ஒருவருக்கொருவர் சளைத்தவர்கள் அல்ல! எவ்வளவுதான் ‘டாம்’, ‘ஜெர்ரி’க்குத் தொந்தரவு கொடுத்தாலும், அதை முறியடிக்க ‘ஜெர்ரி’யிடம் சரியான உத்தி உண்டு. ‘டாம்’ தனது எதிர்ப்பின் வலுவைக் கூட்டக் கூட்ட, ‘ஜெர்ரி’யும் அதற்கு ஈடு கொடுக்கக் கூடிய தந்திரங்களைக் கையாண்டு வெற்றி பெறுவார். இதுவே வாழ்வின் நிதர்சனம். நம் ஒவ்வொருவர் வாழ்விலும், பல சந்தர்ப்பங்களில், வெவ்வேறு எதிரிகளைச் சந்தித்துக் கொண்டே இருக்கிறோம். நமது எதிரிகளின் செயல்பாடுகள் அதிகரிக்க அதிகரிக்க, நமது (அவைகளை எதிர்கொள்ளும்) திறமையும் அதிகரித்துக் கொண்டே இருக்க வேண்டும். அப்பொழுதுதான் நாம் வெற்றி பெற முடியும். நமக்குத் தெரியாமல் நமக்குள் உறங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் திறமைகள் அப்போது வெளியே வரும். நாம் பலசாலிகளாக, திறமைசாலிகளாக உருவெடுப்போம். வேறு திறமையான எதிரிகளிடமிருந்து நமக்கு வரக்கூடிய, மேலும் அதிகப்படியான, வலுவான எதிர்ப்புகளைச் சந்திக

When we see or hear certain things, we get perplexed and baffled. A recent news that took me by surprise was, a person committing suicide after getting a bank job. You read it right! Does it not sound foolish and illogical? He has vowed that he would commit suicide if he gets the bank job! After all, what is the purpose of aspiring for a bank job? To lead a comfortable life. And once he gets the job, he commits suicide, defeating the very purpose of longing for that job. Had he decided that he would commit suicide if he does not get the coveted job within a certain period, it makes sense (though I don't think suicide is the solution). But on getting a job that he was fond of, committing suicide is devoid of all logic and contrary to sane thinking. Another event that makes me thinking (and still not finding a clue!!!) is the e-commerce on-line delivery companies advertising 70 to 80% discount on products, whenever they launch special SALE on various occasions. எதுவுமே நிரந்தரமல்ல...., இந்த தீநுண்மியும் (virus) கூட....! நாம் சரித்திரத்தில் படித்து தெரிந்து கொண்டது போல எத்தனையோ ‘சர்வதேச பரவல் நோய்களை’ இந்த உலகம் முன்பே கண்டிருக்கிறது. அவைகளிலிருந்து மீண்டும் வந்திருக்கிறது. எனவே, இந்த COVID-19 தீநுண்மியும் கொஞ்ச நாளில் சரித்திரமாகி விடும். நம்பிக்கைதானே வாழ்க்கை..... நம்புவோம்.... எப்பேர்ப்பட்ட பேரழிவு, இழப்புகளிலிருந்து மீண்டு வர கால அவகாசம் தேவை. அது புண்களை ஆற்றினாலும், ’வடு’ சில காலத்திற்கு இருக்கத்தான் செய்யும். எல்லாத் துன்பங்களுக்கும் ஒரே மருந்து ‘காலம்’ தான். காலம் செல்லச் செல்ல, துன்பம், இழப்பின் வலி கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாகக் குறையும்; (அவ்வப்போது எட்டிப் பார்க்கவும் செய்யும்....). அதே மாதிரி, எம்மாதிரி இன்பத்தை நாம் நுகர நேர்ந்தாலும், அதன் விளைவுகளும், வலிமையும் காலப் போக்கில் குறையத்தான் செய்யும். எல்லாமே காலச் சக்கரத்தில் மாறக் கூடியவையாகையால், இன்பத்தைக் கண்டு மிகையாகத் துள்ளாமலும், துன்பத்தைக் கண்டு மிகையாகத் துவளாமலும் இருக்கப் பழக வேண்டும். இன்பமும், துன்பமும் உலகில் உள்ள எல்லோருக்குமே வரும்; இதில் சந்தகமே கிடையாது. ஒவ்வொருவரத
