I can resist anything, except..., (????)

I can resist anything but temptation - Oscar Wilde...  Oscar says that he can resist anything, which should mean everything on earth. But there is a catch! He cannot resist temptation, though! It is one of the best examples for a 'paradox'. You can come across people of high resolve (taking oaths), very well-placed people, who must have promised their family (and promised themselves too) that they will not touch liquor, henceforth. (May be without touching, they may drink!). But when tempted by close buddies, who coax them with subtle compromises (of values), temptation overcomes them! The lives of many poor families are being shattered every day due to the drinking menace.  The bread-winner of the family, regularly consuming liquor, throws the family finance in tatters and the family is thrown on to the street. We can witness this scene everyday, especially in economically backward areas. Drinking is a compulsive feeling that they get. And they become so addicted to thi

I am 'right'...and 'wrong' as well...!

Confusing...? No. As the saying goes, 'the coin has two sides'. When we say, the coin has a 'head', it is right. And when we say the coin has a 'tail', that too is right..., right? A girl and an old lady were selling apples on the roadside, both stationing themselves at a fair distance. The girl was selling apples at Rs. 80 per kg, whereas the old lady was selling at the rate of Rs. 90. Both were of the same quality. So, almost all customers bought the apples from the girl. I had some other shopping to do and came back to the same area after some time. I saw the stock in the old lady's cart getting lesser. How come? So, I hid myself in a place and observed what was happening. Whenever the stock of apples was getting depleted in the girl's cart, the apples got transferred from the old lady's cart to that of the girl's! Of course, this happened when no customer was around. On further inquiries and some detective work, I found out that they were mother and daughter. They played on the psyche of the general customers. They compare the prices and
