Are we in for a shock...?
I am talking about our future generation. How do they shape up? I, for one, do not blindly vouch for whatever our past generation (to which I belong) had done. Well, any generation, for that matter, will have something good to talk about and something to forget about. I am venturing into some disturbing aspects of the present generation and also the future generation (by extrapolating the present generation activities).
I have discussed the capabilities of today's youngsters at length in my earlier blog 'Is the future in capable hands?' Our future generation, no doubt, will be much more intelligent than the present generation. And they have to be, to face the ever-changing, fast-paced world! Competition and obstacles would sharpen the brain. They will also be aided by 'artificial intelligence'. So they can focus their intelligence and brilliance on more creative things and prosper in life.
Once the 'fear of the pandemic' is over, the middle class people mainly, will go for more and more consumer goods and the consumerism will increase manifold, as people are bombarded with easy purchase schemes (that too to their door-step). People will splash money on material things, irrespective of the price. People have failed to understand the meaning of 'minimalism'. 'Use and throw' will be the norm; no question of repairing and using again. The gadgets are made in such a way that we need to change them every 2 years or so, to give the 'brands' hefty profit, year after year....!
We are distressed to witness more and more crimes being committed, every single day. Crimes of all sort, for that matter! Bribes and loot are becoming very common and the disturbing aspect is that people are prepared to accept them as 'normal'. 'White-collar crimes' are on the increase. People use their intelligence to dupe gullible people. Within a matter of seconds, millions of rupees could be swindled by cyber crimes. Even if the security is increased and tightened, the crooks go one step further. How could we stop this...? Only extra carefulness and alertness on our part can save us.
Infidelity seems to be much more prevalent these days. Though this has been there from time immemorial, it is definitely on the higher side, of late. The society, as such, is changing very fast. People have started thinking that such things are acceptable and nothing wrong with that. Living together, without getting married is accepted by even courts of law. Illegal relationship outside of marriage is also accepted by court (not a crime!). Then how could we expect a moral society? Where are we heading towards - 'immoral' society....? Towards the 'stone-age'......!
Everyday, we see reports in media about rape cases..., how disgusting? Are we worse than animals...? Rape of infants, girls and even old ladies....! What happened to our boys and men? Lack of strict and quick punishment prompt the perpetrators to commit such despicable crimes. With some influence, they are sure that they can escape the clutches of law. This has to change. Strict laws have to be enacted and expedited ruthlessly. A strong judicial system, unaffected by political influence should be in place.
Our planet is getting polluted at an exponential rate. Some low-lying countries face extinction, within a few years from now, due to rapid climate change. Don't we have the responsibility to hand over an ecologically better world to our future generation?
I am certainly worried about the future generation..... not their capabilities, but their attitude towards life as a whole and the worsening environmental issues....
