Things which our grandchildren might encounter...

As we all know, the world is moving at a break-neck speed. Rapid changes are taking place every moment and it is difficult to catch up with them (for slow people like me!). Even if we do not move with the tide, the tide would drag us along; and we have no choice!

Thanks to the pandemic, we are now used to buying all consumables (vegetables, meat, provisions, fruits etc.) in bigger lots and store them appropriately for future use. The freezer part in the refrigerator is being used more. Gradually the size of the freezer in the refrigerator will become bigger in future designs. It is all the more likely that exclusive "deep-freezers" would be used very commonly in homes in future.

To fall in line with that, vegetables and fruits would be processed to have a shelf life of say, 6 months or so and we can store them in our deep-freezers and use them as "farm-fresh" products, whenever we want. We do not have to wait for the 'mango season' to taste mangoes. Throughout the year we will get anything that we desire. All available, 'off-the-shelf', that too, 'farm-fresh'!

Now we are all used to "door-delivery" of anything that we want. No need of stepping out of the comfort of our home. This buying experience might see a sea change very soon. Suppose we want to buy some items from a super market or mall in "Store X". We can click that particular link and when we type out the item, the shelf where those products are stacked will be shown on your screen. We can click on the item that is required. It will be added to our bucket list. We can go on doing this. Once we finish the shopping, click, 'over'. Our bill will be shown on the screen. We pay by on-line portals. Then the goods will be dispatched to your home. This will soon be the order of the day. Only thing is that our kids will miss the enjoyment of playing in the mall!

Now that the 3D printed houses are being successfully tested, our grandchildren do not have to wait for apartment builders to finish a project in one or two years and hand over the apartment. A house can be built in 5 days using 3D print method (as of now). Soon the technology may improve further and we can have the house as per our design, within a day or two (fresh off the oven!).

Cooking gas is going to be soon supplied through pipeline (at least in cities). This will be extended to even small towns and villages, in future. We all buy mineral water in cans now for drinking purpose. Soon they will start supplying through pipes direct to our homes and bill on us periodically according to use. Who knows, tomorrow, they might even supply (breathable) oxygen by pipes to homes!!

As such, ready-made 'chappathis' (rotis) are available now. Soon anything of our choice would be made available in "frozen" condition and we can buy and consume anytime we want. May be even 'tablets' with required protein and carbohydrates would be introduced in the market for daily use. No need of taking food. But we will miss the pleasure of the "taste"!

These are the few things that come to my mind. You, the reader may please add to this list according to your hunch by extrapolating from the present scenario.
