Is it correct to pre-judge?

Normally we have the habit of pre-judging anybody. We form an opinion based on our past experiences with the person and the way we conceive those events. Our study might have been superficial, not considering all possible aspects of the events. Based on the weak analysis and also on hearsay about the person (here also we take only what suits us), we form an opinion. When we face the same person in future, our pre-judged opinion comes to the fore and we look at him with our prejudiced eyes. We will not be ready to look objectively into the present scenario. We are always opinionated.

The same way, we form our own opinions about things (other than persons). We will say, 'this company's products are always good'. Based on our experience with a particular product of that company, we form this opinion. And we will never change it afterwards, even though some of the other products manufactured by the same company could be bad.

Is this right? Definitely NO. We should approach anything or anybody with an open mind. It is a dynamic world. Things keep changing; people keep changing. They behave differently on different occasions. So, it is always better to see case by case and study in depth and conclude, rather than use our pre-judged opinion and decide.

When we attach ourselves to any particular organization (let us say a political party), we tend to agree and accept whatever the leader says. We have our own judgement (as an individual) on a particular issue, based on our knowledge and experience. But the leader of the party (with which we are associated) might say something totally irrelevant. Though we don't agree with his views, we are compelled (due to our allegiance to the party) to agree to whatever he says. Even if we express our views inside the party forum, we will be looked down as a 'rebel'. We may be expelled, if we persist with our views. This happens especially with political parties. I saw the following quote in my friend's whatsapp message : "A person convinced against his convictions is still unconvinced and nothing can change him".

Even in debate shows (which we see on TV), two sides (having diametrically opposite views) put forth their points alternatively. Both arguments would seem to be correct. That is because the 'subject matter' has two sides to it. Debaters belonging to one side will highlight only one view and those on the other side will highlight only the other view. In my opinion (I am also opinionated!), the judge who gives the final verdict also would have come to the conclusion before listening to both sides' arguments, because he has his own point of view.

In conclusion, we should always be open-minded. We should look into anything or any person with an open mind, study deeply and based on the best of our knowledge and experience, form our opinion. Never pre-judge anybody or anything.
