Is the future in capable hands....?

Yes, of course, without any doubt. One of the positive aspects of this lockdown is getting quality family time. Even the extended families have formed a common platform to exchange pleasantries and various messages among themselves. This has united the entire family like never before. Getting quality time has spurred the members to play games, conduct quizzes, organize competitions etc. Now the internet and smart phones are the binding forces. Distance does not matter anymore.

In our family whatsapp group, we conducted some quizzes and some cooking competition (for the kids in the family). The innovation they displayed, the involvement they had, and the quality they produced are quite unbelievable and simply extraordinary. I never expected such a great show from the kids ranging from 5 years to 12 years of age. They showed professionalism in their tasks. Mind-blowing; I was flabbergasted! They have talents in all fields. We, the elders have to guide them and convert their talents (be it in any field) to skills which should be directed towards achieving lofty heights.

Their energies and acumen have to be channelized to achieve great heights. They should be zealously guarded from going astray. We always learn of some of the school going kids inventing so many gadgets to mitigate the sufferings of people. Give them the problems; they are quick to find the elusive solutions. As they say, 'every problem has got a solution'. The trick lies in finding it! Even for this pandemic (covid-19), if the government really focuses on finding the cure, they can hand over the responsibility to youngsters. Their brains are sharper. Give them the necessary infrastructure and support. That will be the clinching factor. This would make them more responsible ans instill a sense of pride in them..

The realization dawned on me that our future generation is much more capable than the present generation. Take for example, their skills with modern technology. Today's kids will even teach their parents, who are already tech wizards. Tomorrow's technology will make today's technology obsolete. Such is the pace of development now.

Our responsibility as the elders and the custodians of the interests of the people who live in this world, is to hand over a better world in the youngsters' hands. We are damaging the ecology of the universe at a very fast pace. That should stop first. We are polluting the world like crazy. Impede the pace of ecological damage, at least from now on. The young ones deserve a better environment to live and to leave a still better and environmentally sustainable world to their descendants.
