Benefits of week-ends....

Everyone, throughout the working week, keep looking forward to one thing in common - and that is, the precious 'week-end'. Is it so very precious....? Of course, it is.

Is it only for the working people? No, it is for everyone - employees and employers, students and teachers, kids in general, home-makers, shops and restaurants. There could be other categories, which I am not able to recollect. If at all the week-ends do not cause any ripple in some people - it must be the old people and sick people. For them, any day is a week-end; there is no difference.

In today's world, the employees must be one category of people who enjoy the week-ends thoroughly. Being in a competitive and stressful environment for 5 days at a stretch, they definitely need the break. It helps them unwind, rejuvenate and refresh for the gruesome next working week. Most of them use the week-ends to visit places of interest, according to their taste and interest. Some energetic youngsters opt for trekking, some go to tourist destinations. The week-ends also serve us to do unfinished home chores. But, a visit to the malls is a must for most of the employees. They can go for shopping, taste different kinds of food in one of the food-courts. Movie-buffs can visit the movie houses there. Children can enjoy the different varieties of games in the malls. Malls generally serve as picnic spots for most of them. Mall's ambience makes everyone buy - some essential things and some things that we simply want.

The home-makers are given a respite from their everyday drudgery of kitchen. All the family members can eat different State's specialties, and even food from different countries. Everyone - from children to adults - gets a fine dining experience. 

Even the 'mom-and-pop' type of shops and restaurants generally do a roaring business during the week-ends. Whatever shortfall they face in the sales in the 5 working days, is made up during the week-ends. Even the roadside vendors do reasonable business during this period.

The students and teachers definitely need the break as they also carry out a tremendous amount of work-load during the week. The parents push their children so hard and they get terribly stressed. Young minds should be fresh to do innovating things in future. We should allow them the freedom to relax and get fresh ideas in their minds. Whatever information we need to know are there in "Google". So, there is no point in cramming the the facts and cluttering their memories. They should be made to think for themselves. That only will be good for the future of the world. The teachers should learn new things so that they can answer any tricky questions posed by the intelligent students. So, they should learn fresh ideas during the week-ends. This is a detour for them and beneficial to them as well.

Why employers need the week-ends? To escape from the problems of the employees! Just joking.... In fact, the employers have much more responsibility than anyone. They are answerable to their clients, board members, employees, tax authorities etc. They definitely need the break to get new ideas, spend quality time with family.

Some countries are now contemplating to have 3 days as week-ends. There are advantages and disadvantages in this new scheme. Anyway, everyone is aware of the importance of having proper week-ends. Do enjoy the week-ends and get rejuvenated....

Mental Ability..... are we slowly losing....?

These days most of us need a calculator, even to find the answer for 1 + 1. That is a different point altogether! Those days (sigh again...!) we used to do multiplication of big numbers using logarithmic tables (based on the mathematical subject, 'logarithm').
