Same incident - different perceptions...

The school bell rings in the morning. Students reluctantly enter the class rooms. The same school bell rings in the evening. The students come out of the classrooms, as if they are catapulted!

Same office. We get "Monday Blues" while entering the office on Monday mornings. When we enter the office on Fridays, our mood is totally different. We start making plans for the 'week-ends'. We fervently discuss with our colleagues.... At the closing of office hour on Friday, we are so elated and rush out of the office, as if a bullet is coming out of the fired gun....

There is a pond of water in the road, after a heavy rain. Playing children eagerly wait on the side of the road for a car to pass through, which would splash the stagnant water on them. They enjoy it immensely. When an office-goer walks on the side of the road and a car throws the muddy water on him while passing the small pond of water, he gets agitated and shouts at the driver....

When it rains, the people who generally benefit directly by the rain, are happy. Especially, the farmer. But a brick-kiln owner resents as he needs bright sun for his work to prosper. It is the same rain, but some people welcome it and some detest it..... The same way about bright sunshine... When I talk about rain, I cannot avoid recalling our college days. It was late 60's. From our hostel to the college, it was about 20 minutes walk. When we were about to reach the college (in another 2 or 3 minutes), and if it started raining, we preferred to walk back in the rain to the hostel (and not go to the college). The college administration used to announce the session off, due to inclement weather!!!

In a traffic signal, when we have the 'green signal' to pass through, we even rush through the signal, even 2 or 3 seconds after the 'red signal' falls. But when we are waiting for the 'green signal' (at the end of the 'red signal'), we are impatient and 2 or 3 seconds earlier to getting the 'green signal', we tend to pass by.

When we wait for a table in a restaurant, we curse the people occupying the table (why can't they finish off their lunch soon?). But when we sit and enjoy our food and some other family is waiting for our table, again we curse them. But the dialogue is different now (why are they breathing down our throat, not allowing us to have a peaceful lunch?)

"My daughter is lucky. Her husband does all the chores in the house and does not allow my daughter to do any work. My son is very unlucky. My daughter-in-law does not do any house chores. All works have to be done by my son. Poor guy". A different eye for the son and daughter! Son and daughter have to be happy but it is okay for daughter-in-law and son-in-law to do the work.
